Four channels

Everyone gets a headset with a dial: three channels playing at once, and you choose which world you are standing in. The colour on someone else's headset tells you instantly who is in there with you. The fourth channel is playing too — nobody hears it.

  • SCREAM
    Red. Dark and slow.

    Everything that belongs at midnight. Horror soundtracks, darker synthwave, industrial, and beats that make you stalk rather than jump. The fog thickens and the pumpkins burn brighter.

  • GLOW
    Blue. Sharp and electric.

    The coldest light of the four. Synthpop, italo, electro and techno that sounds like a wet street under a blue tube. The fog lifts and everything speeds up.

  • VOID
    Black. Where songs die.

    The fourth channel is real: it has a queue, it plays, it counts down — it just makes no sound. When the room votes a track out it is not deleted, it is sent to the Void and executed slowly and publicly on the big screen. Right up to the last second somebody can drag it back out.

  • BOOGIE
    Green. Glitter and groove.

    The mirrorball descends over the graveyard. Funk, seventies, house and singalongs — the only setting where this becomes a dancefloor instead of a burial ground.

You are the DJ

There is no DJ and there is no playlist. There is one board holding every track of the night, and the room shoves them from channel to channel with coins. You play along on your own phone: scan the QR code on the wall, type your four-digit code, and you are in — under your own name, with a monster that is yours all night.

    Search

    Search for anything you like. The laptop fetches it; you need no internet of your own.

    Request

    You request a track and pick its channel in the same tap. That request is your first coin.

  3. 03
    Pull

    A track sits in whichever channel holds the most coins. All night long tracks slide from colour to colour, live, in front of everyone.

  4. 04
    Lock

    The moment a track becomes next in line its channel is final, the download starts, and everyone gets their coins back.

Five coins, all night

Your coins never run out. They sit somewhere, working for you, and one tap moves them. You can never be left with nothing to play. One rule: one coin per track — nobody drags a song anywhere on their own.

  • Red This one is mine, in Scream.
  • Blue Not here — try next door, in Glow.
  • Green Take it to the dancefloor, in Boogie.
  • Black Nowhere. Into the Void.
  • Wild Becomes whichever colour you need, so you can push two different tracks toward the same channel at once.
The Void and the graveyard

There is no boo button and no skip vote — there is only the Void. A condemned track sits on the screen counting down to its own death, with the name and the monster of whoever requested it. Whatever the Void finishes lands on the graveyard along the bottom of the screen, and that graveyard grows all night. By two in the morning it is the best souvenir of the party.

The wall

Four columns at across-the-room size: what is playing, what comes next, who asked for it, and which tracks are being tugged between channels right now. This is why you look up from your phone.

We may vote in rounds: then the board opens for five minutes twice an hour, and your phone and the wall count down to the next round. The app opens shortly before the party and runs on our own network in the house. Your code is in your confirmation email.

Dress for the occasion

Halloween, neon, or both at once. Go all out — but nobody gets turned away at the door. Show up in jeans and you still dance.

RSVP by
Saturday 24 October at the latest. After that we cannot promise you a headset.
When
Saturday 31 October, doors at 20:00.
Where
In Houten. The address is in your confirmation email — RSVP and you get it straight away.
Bring
Your phone, charged. Without it you hear everything and decide nothing. A power bank is not a bad idea.
Headset
We provide it. Your own earbuds will not work — these pick up three radio channels at once.
Train
Houten Castellum station is within walking distance.
Bike
The best option. Plenty of space to park it.
Car
Park & Ride a hundred metres away.
Staying over
Beds are available. Mention it in your RSVP and we will plan for it.

Silent-disco logistics: if you are reading this, let us know right away whether you are coming, so we can arrange a headset for you. We need enough of them well before the night — RSVP too late and you are dancing to silence.

RSVP closes on Saturday 24 October.

You will get a confirmation email with the address, your personal code for the app, and a link to change your details later.

This is how you appear on the big screen: first name plus one letter. Short enough to read from across the room.

Spaces are limited, so telling us early helps.
Leave empty if there are none.
Optional. Whatever lands here is already on the board before the first guest walks in.
Optional, and entirely without consequence. Somebody may still rescue it.
No RSVP, no headset — and without a headset you will not hear a thing.

Questions

Why do you need my answer so early?

Because a silent disco runs on headsets, and we need to arrange enough for everyone who comes. The count has to be final well before the night, so your RSVP is literally a headset reserved in your name. If you cannot make it, cancel — then somebody else can have it.

Do I have to dress up?

You may, you need not. But it is more fun if you do.

Do I need my phone?

Not for the music, but yes for the game. Searching, requesting, voting — all of it happens on your phone. Arrive with a full battery.

Does it use my data?

No. The app runs on our own network in the house; you need no internet for it, and it gives you none.

How do I get into the app?

Scan the QR code on the wall and type the four-digit code from your confirmation email. That is it: no account, no password. One code works on one phone at a time, so do not share it — you and your friend would log each other out all night.

What exactly is the Void?

The fourth channel: it plays, but nothing comes out. When the room does not want a track it goes there and counts down to its own end on the big screen. It is also the only vote-out button there is — and until the last second somebody can rescue the track back out.

Can I request something without it being voted out?

No, and that is the game. But you always get your coins back, even when your track ends up in the Void. It costs you nothing but the spectacle.

How late does it go on?

Until the headphones run out of battery. Expect deep into the night.

Is there food?

There will be things to nibble. Do not arrive on an empty stomach.

Can I bring someone?

Yes, but add them to your RSVP rather than turning up with them — a headset and a code only wait for people we know about in advance.

I cannot hear anything.

Turn the wheel on the side and press the colour button until something lights up. If it is on black you are on the Void, and nobody hears that — by design. Still nothing? Come find us.

Can I change my RSVP?

Yes. Your confirmation email has a link to edit everything, or to cancel.
